• Photos displayed on a black or a white background. FlickRiver claims that pictures seem better when displayed on a black background.
• Photos are displayed in a one continuous stream, one above the other (like a river). I found this really boring at first as I had to scroll down all the time, until I realised there is a simpler keyboard navigation.

Also, Flickriver follows the Flickr URL structure as much as possible, so you can easily go back and forth between the two.
